Assessments need to be done on a continual basis throughout the day to find those areas that need to be retaught. Yes, there will always be formal assessments but if the teacher is not presenting the lesson in a way that students understand, then they are meaningless. There is a variety of fluid assessments that can be put into action throughout the day to get the temperature of learning.
